Privacy policy

The short version: the app does its work on your phone. Your transactions, holdings and tax figures never reach our servers — there is no account, no sync, and no analytics inside the app. The only personal data we handle is the email address you give us if you join the early access list.

Who we are

CryptoTax UK is made by Hale Technology Ltd, a company based in Liverpool, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the limited personal data described below. Contact: hello@haletech.uk.

Data in the app

Everything you enter or import — trades, transfers, valuations, reports — is stored in a local database on your device and processed there. We cannot see it, and we do not receive it. Backups work by exporting a file that you save wherever you choose (your own cloud drive, email, a computer); we never hold a copy. Deleting the app deletes the local data; backup files you have exported remain wherever you put them, under your control.

Third-party services the app contacts

CoinGecko — when you fetch a live or historic price, the app requests it from CoinGecko's public API. The request contains the coin identifier and date, and (like any internet request) your IP address reaches their servers. No personal or portfolio information is sent. CoinGecko's own privacy policy governs their processing.

The app contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no trackers.

Data on this website

Early access list — if you email us to join, we keep your email address to tell you about the app's availability. Legal basis: consent. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying, and we will delete your address.
Hosting logs — our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) for security and operation of the site. Legal basis: legitimate interests. Logs are retained on the provider's standard rotation.
Fonts — this site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests files from Google's servers; Google may log the request. The site sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because app data lives only on your device, most of these rights you exercise directly — the data is already in your hands. For anything we hold (in practice, your email address), contact hello@haletech.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

The app and this site are not directed at anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes affecting the app will be noted in the app's release notes.
